UDON COOKING CLASSES
Learn how fun and simple it is to make udon at home in this traditional cooking class. In my opinion udon captures the essence of Japanese culture: delicate and balanced, yet simple and sturdy. Make fresh noodles from scratch, dashi, and tenpura shrimps as part of this course. I will select 2 types of udon for you, depending on the season.
There are three ways to take a cooking class:
Home Cooking Class - I come out to your home and teach you to cook. All ingredients, drinks and equipment are provided.
Online Cooking Class - You can be anywhere in the world and take a live private session with me and learn to cook in your own kitchen.
Group Cooking Class - You can join a class in Copenhagen alongside other people in my monthly group classes. Dates are on the booking page and Facebook @kimuraskitchen.
Udon is often over shadowed by ramen outside of Japan, but not in the Kansai region, where I spent time training. Udon is a thick wheat noodle usually served in a light but umami filled broth. There are many regional varieties of udon, and different ways to eat the noodles. It's essentially a very simple process to make, and a very clean flavoured but filling dish. Ramen might be the trendy one, but has it's origins in China, whereas udon has a more Japanese taste, and is often eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Udon is definitely one of my favourites.
